Tokyo Tower was erected in 1958 just as Japan was about to enter the television age, in order to unite the different broadcasting towers of the various broad casting stations. It is 333 meters high. Tokyo Tower is 13 meter taller than the Eiffel Tower. Tokyo Tower is a popular tourist spot as well as a symbol of Tokyo. Its Special Observatory is 250 meters up. There are windows in the floor of the 150-meter-high Main Observatory. Visitors can enjoy the views from these windows. The view straight down is a little bit scary, though. You can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view from here. The tower is lit up throughout the year. The color of the illuminations changes according to the season: orange in spring, autumn and winter, and silver in summer.
