Tangible Cultural Properties
Designated in 1921

The statue of jizo at Shinshoji Temple was erected in 1714 as the fourth statue.
During its restoration from 2008 to 2010, four copper statues of seated Jizo Bosatsu and many copper tablets and wooden tablets were found inside the body of the statue. After the restoration was completed, those found objects were put back inside the statue.
The height is 268cm. The statue used to be gold-plated.
The statue was designated as cultural properties because the statue was rather elaborate for copper statues in the mid-Edo period and there are only a few previous as such.
